The 2024 Tour de France with a total of 176 riders, organized in 22 teams, promises to be a spectacle of superlatives. The first Grand Départ in the 111th edition of the TDF in Italy will take the riders from the Apennines across the majestic Alps, the wild Pyrenees and the Massif Central of France to this year’s finish in Nice on the Côte d’Azur. This time, the journey does not end in the usual home of Paris. Why? Well, the City of Lights is preparing for the 2024 Olympic Games.

The Mountains are the Battlefields of this Epic Ride.

The route? Breathtaking! With over 52,230 meters of elevation gain, this is a race that forgives no weaknesses and offers a veritable firework display of challenges:

  • Eight flat stages
  • Two time trials – with a final individual time trial on the last day
  • Four hilly stages
  • Seven high mountain stages with four epic mountain finishes

Dedicated to the mountain gods, with summits such as Saint-Lary-Soulan Pla d’Adet, Plateau de Beille, Isola 2000 and Col de la Couillole. A real endurance test that only the best will survive. Towering above it all is the Cime de la Bonette, France’s highest asphalt road, at 2802 meters above sea level – the summit of the Tour 2024.

“On a mountain ascent, Pain shows who you are.”

There are also two time trial stages, a battle against the clock and against one’s own demons. A finale that brings back memories of the legendary duel between Fignon und LeMond in ’89 – it’s been so long since the asphalt has burned with such intensity.
